PDFlib PLOP 3 and PDFlib PLOP DS

 

PDFlib GmbH has released PDFlib PLOP 3 and the new product PLOP DS for digitally signing PDF documents.

 
PLOP DS creates digital signatures which can be validated in Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Reader, without the need for any additional software. Signatures can be created from digital IDs in the common PKCS#12 and PFX certificate formats. On Windows digital IDs from the Windows certificate store can also be used.

 
PLOP 3 offers many new and improved functions, including AES encryption, integrated pCOS interface for analyzing PDF, and a repair and optimization mode for input PDF documents.  In addition, document and XMP metadata can be retrieved and set.

PDF/A for long-term archival

 

The PDF/A formats specified in the ISO 19005 standard strive to provide a consistent and robust subset of PDF which can safely be archived over a long period of time, or used for reliable data exchange in enterprise and government environments. PDFlib 7 can be used to create PDF/A output conforming to ISO 19005.

 

PDF/A is targeted at reliable long-time preservation of digital documents. The standard is based on PDF 1.4, and imposes some restrictions regarding the use of color, fonts, annotations, and other elements. There are two flavors of PDF/A-1, both of which can be created and processed with PDFlib.

A beta of the new product PDFlib TET IFilter has been released. TET PDF IFilter is based on the patented TET technolgy. It extracts text and metadata from PDF documents and makes it available to search and retrieval software on Windows.
